Martha Bárcena, Mexican ambassador to the United States, published on her Twitter account that, on the instructions of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard, she gave an explanation to US interlocutors about the decision of the Mexican government to not congratulating US President-elect Joe Biden.

Bárcena explained that the decision is based on the principle of Non-Intervention established in Mexican law.
He added that the congratulations will occur once the post-election conflicts are resolved and the US authorities officially recognize the winner.
According to the diplomat, Mexico expressed its respect for United States policy, including the Democratic and Republican parties.
And also the virtual ("prospective") president-elect Joe Biden and President Donald Trump.
AMLO says he is acting prudently by waiting for authorities to decide who the winner in the US is.
