The new Secours Catholique report on the state of poverty in France, based on information collected in 2019 by the association's 64,300 volunteers, is even darker than the previous one published last year.
The data on the situation of some 1.4 million people met, half of them children, are indeed catastrophic and do not bode well, because of the crisis, for the months to come.
Their standard of living has not increased in a year, stable at 537 euros per month, a level less than half the poverty line.

Worse, a quarter of households hosted in one of the Secours Catholique centers do not have any financial resources to live on and two thirds are in a situation of extreme poverty.
According to the association's feedback, it is families with children (which represent one in two households) who have the lowest living standards.
