From November 23, Spain will request a negative PCR test in the 72 hours prior to their arrival to passengers who come from areas of risk of contagion of covid-19.

The measure, which will be added to the thermal, visual and documentary controls that foreign health practices on international passengers, will affect travelers from countries of the European Union and Schengen associated nations that have a poor epidemiological evolution.

For this purpose, the categorization by risk areas carried out by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control will be taken into account, which is updated weekly on its website, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

According to the document, for third countries "the cumulative incidence of positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days will be taken into account."

The statement clarifies that agencies and tour operators, as well as air and maritime transport companies, must inform passengers of the obligation to have a negative PCR test to guarantee their entry into the Iberian country.

This measure was previously adopted by the Government of the Canary Islands on October 29.

The regional executive announced at that time a decree that forced tourists to submit a negative covid-19 diagnostic test as a condition of access to tourist accommodation in the archipelago.
