Texas is now the first US state to record 1 million coronavirus cases, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
The Lone Star State has so far identified 1,010,364 cases of Covid-19 since the pandemic began.
At least 19,337 people have died there, according to the university.
Biden wants masks to be mandatory in all 50 states.
In these they are not required
California has the second highest number of COVID-19 cases in the United States, with 989,432.
If Texas, which has a population of around 29 million people, were a country, it would now rank 10th in the world in terms of total identified COVID-19 cases.
The US exceeded 10 million cases of covid-19 and infections are increasing in 43 states
