In conjunction with the holding of the international conference on the return of refugees, the Russian humanitarian mission today visited the kindergarten of March 8 in Al-Qusour area in Damascus, where it provided a number of school bags, gifts and games for kindergarten children.

In a statement by Sana, the director of the mission, “Sergey Shevchuk”, stated that the mission has been providing humanitarian aid since 2015 targeting the displaced and school students in Syria, pointing out that their visit today came to support kindergarten children, as we provided school bags and games that develop mental skills and wit and suit different ages in addition to entertainment games Varied meals and meals served to 120 children in kindergarten.

From the Russian Cultural Center in Damascus, Victoria Al-Ahmad indicated that this support is provided by the people of Russia to the people of Syria to bring happiness and joy to their hearts, noting the importance of the refugee return conference that was launched today in Damascus in terms of securing the return of Syrian refugees to their country.

For her part, the Assistant Director of Education for Basic Education Affairs and Vanguards at the Damascus Education Directorate, Rana Mousli, pointed to the importance of this visit and the humanitarian support it carried for Syrian children. She said: “I thank the Russian Federation, which we consider a sister to Syria for the support it provides to Syrian children at various educational levels, and today the support was directed. For a group of 3 to 5 years old who are kindergarten students, as the mental games that provided creativity and activity for these children enhance.

Mosly indicated that the Ministry of Education launched the curriculum for class “B” for compensation for the educational loss of children of displaced families to compensate for the education they were deprived of due to the conditions of the terrorist war on Syria, indicating that this educational program contributes to the return of students of refugee families to their schools upon their return to Syria, and the Ministry has taken all Preparations to secure education in various governorate schools for the children of these families.

The Russian mission also visited the Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church in the Dwel'a area in Damascus, where 200 baskets containing food commodities, cleaning materials and water filters were distributed.

In a statement by Sana, the deputy director of the mission, Konstantin Sarvanidi, stated that within the framework of the international conference on the return of refugees, the Russian humanitarian mission distributed 200 baskets to needy families containing food commodities, cleaning materials and water filters, indicating that this carries a humanitarian message from the Russian people to support those affected by the war.

For his part, Father Yaqoub Assaf, priest of the Mar Elias Greek Orthodox Church, appreciated the aid provided by the mission and the role of the Russian Federation in the humanitarian aspect, in addition to its support for Syria in fighting terrorism, explaining that needy families, orphans, widows and people without a breadwinner are the first beneficiaries of this aid.
