The Chancellor speaks to trainees - that doesn't happen every day.
In a series of digital conversations, the trainees were able to ask Angela Merkel private questions.
Chancellor Angela Merkel
* is close to the citizen in her new digital conversation series.
At her first appointment, she spoke to
trainees
from all over Germany.
She made it clear that there is
still some catching up to do
in the digital expansion of
schools
.
Berlin - Every now and then,
Chancellor Angela Merkel
(CDU *) is asked by journalists or citizens why she is not explaining her policy more strongly in these Corona times.
Perhaps also to create more
acceptance
for their measures, you have seen them more recently at
press conferences
, their video podcast is supposed to increase their presence on social media.
In addition, an online series has now started with the title
“Interview
with the
Federal Chancellor”
.
At first, Merkel wanted to devote herself to a group with which she does not often talk: the
trainees
.
What is
particularly challenging
for you in the
Corona crisis
?
How are you coping with
online training
?
The young women and men who also wanted to ask the Chancellor questions came from very different fields, including mechatronics, organ building and aviation.
There are not so many
such
meetings
by Angela Merkel.
Situations in which she wants to appear relaxed.
She appeared interested
and kept asking questions from the trainees who were
individually connected via
video
, even if they were sometimes similar.
Angela Merkel and Corona: Talking to trainees is also about digital equipment
For example, Merkel wanted to
know
from a 22-year-old from the field of
technical system planning
how terrible
home office
was or whether it also had
advantages
.
“I save myself the
way to work
” was the answer that many would probably bring up.
Prelude to four virtual citizens' dialogues: Chancellor #Merkel speaks to trainees and trainers.
How did you experience the past few months in the #corona pandemic?

A
freight forwarder
in her third year of training in
aviation
told us about online lessons and that of course she sometimes missed personal encounters.
But with
WhatsApp groups,
for example, the processes worked quite well.
But in retrospect, Merkel is critical of the digital expansion in schools: "Everyone has realized that it is not a special condition, that we are lagging a bit behind."
Angela Merkel and Corona: Chancellor is looking forward to carefree travel again
The young woman wanted to know from Merkel how she can
calm
down in such well-planned days
.
“I try to get some
fresh air
or
watch
a
movie
.
So that you can distract yourself.
But it is a very challenging time, you want
Germany to
get through the crisis well, ”said Merkel.
She looks
forward to
carefree
travel
again.
In addition, Merkel chatted briefly about her own
doctoral studies *
when she sat at home and realized: “You could put something away here and something there.” The trainees are very familiar with distraction when working from home.
When Merkel asked how gloomy life is at the moment without
parties
and events, a young
car mechatronics technician was
very patient.
"Of course we young people lack this freedom and spontaneity, but we have to somehow move forward and protect each other and that is not possible if everyone is selfish." Merkel agreed: "
It was better in the
summer
.
Now we have to somehow get through the four winter months. "
After this appointment, three more virtual discussions are planned, on the topics of
care
,
police
and
studies
.
The next one is scheduled for November 19th.
