The Association of Lawyers for Justice and Concord, which brings together more than 400 lawyers from the Federal Capital,
presented this Thursday the book "The Pact",
which tells how the president of CELS Horacio Verbitsky allegedly negotiated the appointment of dozens of judges , prosecutors and key judicial employees with former presidents Néstor and Cristina Kirchner.
According to the authors, the book contains "the history
of the Kirchner-Verbitsky agreement
destined to dominate the Judiciary with the purpose of subjecting it to a political project that would enshrine impunity and serve as a
tool for persecuting opponents
."
The book, which can be downloaded free of charge from www.elpacto.com.ar, was written by lawyers Gerardo Palacios Hardy, Ricardo Saint Jean and María Laura Olea.
“Verbitsky and Kirchnerism, through CELS and the political group Justicia Legítima, saw clear where the power of the Criminal Justice would pass.
Hence, during the management of Dr. Alejandra Gils Carbó they occupied said public ministry
appointing 1,500 new employees, illegally creating positions and
appointing or promoting more than 50 members of these two organizations
as tax magistrates in key places to guarantee impunity for those accused of corruption, as well as promoting causes against political opponents, "he says. the book.
Later, he assures that “the appointment of Alejandra Gils Carbó as Attorney General of the Nation was personally promoted by Cristina Kirchner.
Verbitsky, for his part, had several of the main CELS lawyers appointed to this key body,
consolidating the takeover of the Public Prosecutor's Office by the militants of that organization and Legitimate Justice
”.
He affirms that in 2003, Kirchner “undertook to work for the reopening of the trials - only against the military - for the events that occurred in the 1970s.
And he granted Verbitsky, CELS and the organizations under its influence,
the design and management of a human rights policy
that would mean, in a few years, a profound cultural change and that would transform both the security and defense policy, as well as the management of the justice service ”.
The cover of the book "El Pacto", ebook version.
That pact began with the request for the resignation of the judges of the Supreme Court of Justice that Carlos Menem had appointed to achieve “a majority that would ensure the objectives set, continued with the attack against the members of the Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation and advanced on the Council of the Magistracy, to finally launch itself into the control of the Public Prosecutor's Office by members of CELS and Legitimate Justice ”.
At the request of the former journalist and informal advisor to Cristina Kirchner, "Víctor Abramovich and Carolina Varsky, as well as Pablo Parenti, José Alberto Nebbia, Miguel Ángel Palazzani and Pablo Camuña were appointed to the public prosecutor's office"
The Plan "is today in its last stage."
The justice reform proposed by President Alberto Fernández on July 29th “hides a maneuver of
illusionism
as common as it is successful in Kirchner politics: the reform proposes the creation of new courts, focusing on the quality and number of the judges, when in reality
the plan of impunity and persecution of opponents
does not pass through there, but is already in the hands of prosecutors -and will be more forcefully shortly-, who have been executing it successfully with concrete acts in compliance with the pact and in violation of their functions ”.
