The
first suspicions came from
a
young assistant doctor
who stumbled upon the critical blood values of a seriously ill patient on Saturday.
It showed a massively reduced blood clotting;
As it turned out later, the 24-year-old nurse had given the 54-year-old woman the anticoagulant heparin in high doses.
The young doctor remembered a comparable case at the end of October with similarly suspicious values - and reported to the managing
senior physician Professor Dr.
Sandro war
also that the same nurse was on duty at the time.
Antidote to heparin - then the nurse is withdrawn from duty
At this point in time, both doctors suspected that the blood values could be related to a dangerously high dose of heparin.
Thereupon, Prof. Krieg ordered special laboratory tests in an urgent manner and arranged for the patient - to put it simply - to be given a kind of antidote that neutralizes
the effects of the heparin
.
At the same time, the files revealed that the patient concerned had not been prescribed any heparin at all.
When the laboratory results confirmed the suspicion against the nurse on Saturday evening, clinic director Professor Dr.
Bernhard Meyer suggests that the nurse will be withdrawn from work under a pretext.
The perpetrator got a call from the nursing management, according to which he did not have to appear for work on Sunday because fewer
operations were
carried out
due to Corona
.
At the same time, Prof. Krieg secured empty medicine containers and the contents of the
rubbish bins
at the guard station
.
It also contained packaging
containing
strong
sedatives
that the nurse had given another patient.
During the night, further laboratory tests were carried out, which further intensified the suspicion against the nurse.
Clinic director Meyer then turned on
the
police
on
Sunday morning
.
On Sunday the clinic director drummed up
all the senior physicians from the wards and from vacation,
according to information from
Münchner Merkur
and
tz
.
The medics immediately began to internally review other cases from the past few weeks.
So far - according to current knowledge -
no further suspected cases
have emerged.
The 90-year-old patient, who had been given a dangerously high dose by the nurse at the end of October, has recovered.
He is in rehab.
The woman, whose blood tests led the doctors to track down the perpetrator, is in
stable condition
.
The third person affected, a 91-year-old man, is still in the
intensive care unit
.
His condition is critical.

Update, 12.20 p.m.:
Now there are also initial insights into
the carer's
