Senior Hamas official Fathi Hamad was diagnosed this evening (Friday) as infected with the corona virus and, as required in the Gaza Strip, was placed in solitary confinement.
The name of a member of the political bureau of the terrorist organization made headlines in the past, when he called during the riots on the border with Israel "to slaughter all the Jews on earth."
In a speech during the "Return March" demonstrations, Hamad said: "If the siege is not lifted, we will explode in front of our enemy, God willing. The explosion will not only be in Gaza. It will also be in the West Bank and abroad with the help of Allah.
Our brothers abroad are preparing. A year and a half they are warming up. Halas! Seven million Palestinians abroad.
There are Jews everywhere.
We must attack every Jew on earth.
Slaughter them and kill them with the help of Allah. "
Hamad, 59, is a resident of Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip.
He previously served as Interior Minister in the Hamas government and since 2016 has been on the list of terrorist operatives of the US State Department.
This is not the first Hamas official to be infected with the virus and he was preceded in death by Salah Aruri, the deputy head of the political bureau abroad.
Earlier today, the Hamas Ministry of Health announced another 70-year-old patient who had died as a result of the virus' complications.
This brought the death toll in the Gaza Strip to 45.
Beyond that, 276 Gazans were diagnosed during 2,282 tests conducted on Thursday and since the onset of the corona plague 9,816 verified cases have been diagnosed in the Strip.
However, it is estimated that the number is larger due to the low amount of tests.
