Record seizure of 360 thousand non-compliant surgical masks, for a value of about 180 thousand euros by the soldiers of the Guardia di Finanza of the Tenenza di Muggia.
The blitz during the border crossing checks that made it possible to discover an illegal transport of masks from Slovakia to Italy, at the border crossing of Fernetti (TS).
In particular, the financiers intercepted a commercial transport coming from Slovakia and destined to a limited liability company based in Prato that would be responsible for the subsequent marketing.
The van that transported them did not have valid supporting technical documentation useful for ascertaining the effective possession of all the essential requirements for safety and health, prescribed by national and Community provisions, applicable to these devices. In addition, the individual packs of masks bore the CE marking followed by the indication of an incorrect Community safety standard or in any case such as to induce confusion in the final consumer about the intended use and performance requirements.
The masks were seized for violation of product safety regulations, with the application of an administrative sanction to the owner of the assets. The commercial value of the devices, once placed on the market, would have been around 180,000 euros.
