The animal was shot around 7 p.m., the same source said.
Agents from the French Biodiversity Office (OFB) went to the site.
The carcass of the animal was taken care of to carry out the usual examinations, said the prefecture.
The Minister for the Ecological Transition, Barbara Pompili, last week authorized a “
sampling shot
” after the failure of all the scaring measures.
"
These shots are possible as a last resort, but it is the case here,
" she said.
Already spotted in 2019 north of Autun, the presence of the wolf was confirmed in Saône-et-Loire in July, after almost a century of absence.
About a hundred sheep had since been killed.
