After two weeks of trial, the jurors found the athlete guilty of all the acts committed between 2010 and 2016 for which he was being prosecuted.

One of the lawyers of the civil parties Me Frédéric Berna said he was "

very satisfied

" with this sentence in accordance with the requisitions of the Advocate General, evoking "

enormous relief

" for one of the victims.

In November 2015, a first victim lodged a complaint, reporting a rape committed in a hotel in Laxou (Meurthe-et-Moselle).

Charged, the boxer had at the time been left free.

In January 2016, a new rape complaint was filed for facts that occurred in Nancy.

Samples had then made it possible to highlight the DNA of Ozkan Kuyruk, then placed in detention.

During the investigation, eight other victims were reported, for previous acts.

The first, dating back to 2010, was initially closed, the offense having been deemed "

insufficiently characterized

".

The trial, initially scheduled for March, had been postponed due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

A further postponement had been requested unsuccessfully by the defense on the first day of the hearing.

During the debates, Ozkan Kuyruk had denied any coerced relationship, while admitting to having taken advantage of his "

status

" as champion to curry favor, while a psychologist had underlined the "

narcissistic

" personality and without empathy of the accused, according to the Republican East.

Ozkan Kuyruk was crowned, at the age of 24, world champion in French boxing under 60 kilos, in 2013. Son of Turkish immigrants, he was the pride of his club in Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy, where he was considered as a model of integration.

He has ten days to appeal his conviction.
