The Office of the Communications Authority stated today (13th) that the voice mail of some mobile communication service customers of "Hutchison Phone" has potential security risks. The telecommunications operator has been immediately contacted for follow-up.

The Office of the Communications Administration noted that it has noticed that there are potential security risks in the message mailboxes of some mobile communication service customers of Hutchison Telephone Company Limited.

According to the information provided by Hutchison Telephone Co., Ltd., a group of customers had activated their message mailboxes before November 2016, but did not change the default password by themselves.

Because the default passwords of these customer message mailboxes are low in security, they may be logged in by others or used to make unauthorized calls.

According to the OFCA, after learning of the above problem, the OFCA has immediately contacted and requested the telecommunications operator involved to follow up. The company has also taken action to change the default password of the relevant customer, and at the same time suspend the user's use of the voice mail system to dial out calls. , And notify affected customers of the action.
