Edelstein, today

Hours before Edelstein's announcement, Netanyahu also referred to contacts with Pfizer, which this week published success data of about 90% in the experiments it is conducting with the corona vaccine.

Although Netanyahu did not mention the fact that an agreement would be signed today, he announced that Israel would start receiving vaccines against Corona in January 2021. This, after a conversation with the CEO of the pharmaceutical company, Albert Burla. Declared that negotiations were indeed underway, and that he was confident that the contract before her would be completed.

The IDF's intelligence division estimates that the vaccine developed by the American company Corona Virus is expected to reach an effectiveness of about 90%. The interim results of the trial are expected to be published in the near future. Pfizer. modernity has an agreement with Israel for the supply of vaccines to the virus.

according to the Military Intelligence, Pfizer's announcement "raises the likelihood of the effectiveness of other vaccines developed technology mRNA, like that of a member of modernity, which is also in phase III clinical trials" .

It was also announced in the intelligence briefing that "to the extent that Modern's interim results are similar to those of Pfizer, it is likely that by the end of 2020 there will be at least two vaccines approved for use against Corona, which will be applied upon receipt of approval."

The Intelligence Division details that 47 vaccines are currently in various clinical trial stages.

The leaders in the race are the American companies Pfizer and the German Bion-Tech, which are jointly developing a vaccine based on the mRNA technology of the Spike protein found in the corona virus.

The vaccine is given in two doses one month apart.

One hundred million vaccine doses already this year

The Pfizer vaccine, like the Modern vaccine, does not contain the active virus that causes the disease but uses a small part of its genetic material, called mRNA.

This is a scientific approach originally developed to fight cancer.

The vaccine causes the immune system to produce antibodies that attack the prickly protein - which, among other things, gives the corona virus its unique and recognizable form, but it is also the one that allows the virus to penetrate the body's cells that it attacks.

Pfizer and Bion-Tech have an estimated $ 1.95 billion agreement with the United States administration, under which they are expected to provide one hundred million doses of vaccine this year.

The companies have also reached agreements with the EU, the UK, Canada and Japan.

To save time, the companies started producing the vaccine even before it became clear how effective it was.

Pfizer has announced that it plans to produce 1.3 billion vaccine doses by 2021.
