First of all, let me express my appreciation for your altruism, Francisco.

I suggest that you, through your general practitioner, contact some of the studios to evaluate you and determine if you may be a candidate.

@drhuerta good morning, greetings. Do the volunteers who are part of vaccines know if they were given a placebo or the vaccine?

- Iván Ramos (@IvanSucre) November 10, 2020

Excellent question, Ivan.

As we explained in the episodes of August 19 and 20, neither the volunteers nor the doctors know if they are applying a vaccine or the placebo.

This is called a double-blind study and it is one of the characteristics that ensure that the study results have scientific validity.

@drhuerta What is the effect of the Covid 19 vaccine on people who are immunosuppressed?

- Carmen (@lindawalicarmen) November 9, 2020

Excellent question Carmen.

The decision to vaccinate an immunosuppressed person must always be made in coordination with the treating physician.

In general, vaccines prepared with active viruses represent a greater risk for immunosuppressed patients.

For example, those against herpes zoster or shingles, measles, mumps, rubella and yellow fever.

The nasal flu vaccine, called FluMist, also contains active viruses.

@drhuerta Dr. Good morning.

I'm from Argentina and here there are centers testing Pfizer and Jensen vaccines.

I am a type 2 diabetic I have stents and I am 69 years old.

Nothing else.

Should I sign up as a volunteer?

Thank you

- JUAN CARLOS CARAMÉS FERRO (@CaramesJuan) November 9, 2020

Congratulations and thank you very much for wanting to be a volunteer in the phase 3 studies of the vaccine against covid-19, Juan Carlos.

I think you should ask the coordinators of those studies and be evaluated.

They will decide if you are a good candidate.

@drhuerta If I am a volunteer for one of the vaccines and then another vaccine arrives definitively and I have it applied ... what is the study of the first one?

- Carlos Franco (@cafrancov) November 8, 2020

Very good question Carlos, I would advise you, when the time comes, check with the study coordinators for which you are volunteering.

There are different types of vaccine and they may be able to advise you.

@drhuerta once vaccinated with a proven effective vaccine, if I got infected, could I infect others?

- Enrique Ibarra (@ bazko1) November 7, 2020

Very good question Enrique.

It seems to me that you think that when you get the vaccine they put an active virus on you and therefore you could infect others.

It is not like this, no vaccine uses an active virus, capable of being infected.

Questions about other vaccines

@drhuerta Good morning Doc, can you help me with a question.

If a 6+ baby, adult, or senior has symptoms or tested positive for COVID, can you get the flu shot?

If yes, could the symptoms be aggravated?

Thank you!

- Adriana Yarenis Lira (@Adriana_Yarenis) November 12, 2020

Hi Adriana, very good question.

Yes, the flu or influenza vaccine can be received by people of any age, although the risk groups for complications from the flu, and therefore, have a greater indication to receive the vaccine, are those over 55 years of age and those under 5 years.

@drhuerta Dr. good afternoon.

My neighbor, who is almost 65 years old, hypertensive and controlled, doubts a lot about getting the Influenza vaccine and offers her if the Pneumococcal Clinic is also important, is it important to get them for the first time?

Can / should they be put together?

You fear getting sick.

Thank you.

- STARNOON (@STARNOON) November 8, 2020

Excellent question Starnoon, of course yes, a 65-year-old should get their flu and pneumonia shots.

And of course you can put them together.

@drhuerta dear doctor a consultation.

I had Guillaim Barre and for a long time they told me that I should not vaccinate against influenza.

This year I did it because I have a lot of risk because I have type 2 DM.

Do you think that once we have a vaccine for Covid, I will be able to get vaccinated?

Thank you.

🤗

- Adrift!!

(@EL_PPPad) November 8, 2020

Excellent question Adrift.

I think you can get vaccinated, but I beg you, when the time comes, consult your GP, who can give you more personalized advice.

Other doubts about the coronavirus

Hello, a few days ago I came out positive in the covid test, but I do not present symptoms, I do not know if I should take a treatment, I already spoke with doctors but they do not attend covid cases or remotely but today I realized that my nose feels congested

- Sagreromx (@ EstefanaSagrer1) November 9, 2020

Good question, Sagrero.

Patients who have covid-19 and are asymptomatic do not need any treatment.

This is because the virus has no specific treatment.

@drhuerta that it has been proven that it can be used as a medicine for the consequences of the Corona virus such as tiredness or fatigue.

Thank you

- Rossy Acosta (@RossAcostat) November 8, 2020

Hello Rossy, as we said in the episode of September 3, the treatments for the sequelae of covid-19 are only symptomatic and must be done by the family doctor in coordination with specialists.

The most important thing is careful monitoring.

Good afternoon.

A consultation in some South American countries, the temperature is above 30 g Celsius, reaching 37 to 38 g Celsius. It affects the coronavirus and its survival in the environment reduces infections.

- Enrique susano p.

(@ EnriqueASusano3) November 8, 2020

Very good question Enrique.

One of the things we have learned from this virus is that environmental temperatures do not influence its spread.

As proof, the United States recorded nearly 200,000 deaths from COVID-19 in the spring and summer months.

We must take care of ourselves all year round.
