US President Donald Trump has told some of his advisers that after Joe Biden's official victory is announced, he may announce that he will run for the Republican Party against Biden in the next round, in four years' time, the New York Times reported today (Friday).
According to the report, Trump, who refuses to accept his loss and continues to claim forgeries, said the things in a conversation that took place about his future and that dealt with several scenarios.
One option is to announce a run-off in the 2024 election. The
paper reported that at a White House meeting on Wednesday, Trump, who is waging a legal battle in several states, tried to challenge the results with several advisers, most of whom told him his chances of changing the election were slim.
"He knows it's over," one of his advisers told the newspaper.

According to talks in the New York Times with six of his advisers and several other associates, the president has no broad-based strategy for further postponing results in key states where he is fighting legally, and instead intends to act to maintain his political base after leaving the White House.
The Trump campaign has filed lawsuits in Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania over allegations of electoral fraud and voting irregularities, repeatedly claiming on Twitter that he won the election and that a concerted effort was made by Democrats to steal the election from him.
