Christian Amanpour, a presenter and reporter for the American news network CNN, last night (Friday) compared the events of Kristallnacht, in which a pogrom of Jews was held in Germany and Austria, to the actions of US President Donald Trump.

Weimar Jews and the Holocaust that followed have become fun little playthings - media toys - for journalists to casually toss around, use and exploit to make themselves feel way more important than they are and to elevate fear.

This is repugnant and offensive, @camanpour.

The presenter opened her program, bearing her last name, saying that "this week 82 years ago, Kristallnacht took place. It was the opening shot of the Nazis on our civilization, which led to genocide against an entire identity and the burning of books. It led to an attack on facts, on knowledge "On History and Truth."

So, Amanpour referred to the loss of the US president in the presidential election: "After four years of modern attack on the same values by Donald Trump, the Biden-Harris team has promised to return to the norms, including of the truth."

The presenter's remarks caused a stir on the net, with many condemning her for the controversial comparison.

Glen Greenwald, Pulitzer Prize-winning author and journalist, attacked the presenter, writing on his Twitter account that Holocaust events "have become toys for journalists who occasionally throw out details, and use and exploit them to make themselves feel more important than they are and to increase fear. It is repulsive and insulting."

The crazy comparison @camanpour made between Kristallnacht and Trump should have led to her immediate dismissal from @CNN.

There is no immunity from Holocaust denial.

Danny Dayan, the former head of the Yesha Council, went against the presenter's remarks on his Twitter account: "The crazy comparison she made between Kristallnacht and Trump should have led to her immediate dismissal from CNN.

There is no immunity from Holocaust denial. "

The British Ben Habib, a former member of the European Parliament on behalf of the Brexit party, also attacked Amenfor: "How the hell does this prejudice endure in the mainstream media? Third-rate junk," he wrote on his Twitter account.

Kristallnacht took place on the night of November 9-10, 1938, when 91 people were killed in pogrom events carried out on Jews in Germany and Austria.

It is estimated that hundreds of synagogues and shops owned by Jews were burned or destroyed that night.
