Participants in the meeting concerned with discussing the outputs of the specialized dialogue workshops organized by the National Union of Syrian Students in the Syrian universities during the days of the 10 and 11 of last month recommended the support of participatory research directed at family farming from all concerned parties, especially the ministries of higher education, scientific research, agriculture, agrarian reform and development Agricultural research and adoption of modern production techniques.

During their meeting today in the Rida Saeed conference hall at the University of Damascus, the participants emphasized the necessity of adopting production techniques such as the cultivation system without soil or vertical farming "that depends on agriculture on sloping or vertical surfaces to increase production in a small area" and tissue culture "tissue or plant cell cultivation" and develop And modernizing production, supply and marketing chains to serve family farming in terms of reducing costs, increasing profitability, and developing communication strategies to provide the necessary information for scientific research related to family farming.

The participants called for creating innovative types of research, developing the capabilities of specialists and workers in the field of agricultural extension, and holding training courses concerned with the method of preparing, preparing and processing agricultural products, in both their plant and animal parts, resulting from family farming, and providing places for their circulation, display and sale to the direct consumer.

The participants pointed out the importance of linking the training path with the career path and between the scientific academic experience and the needs on the ground, studying the reduction or elimination of loan benefits, facilitating guarantees, the possibility of accepting non-employee sponsorship, securing production and marketing requirements, training rural women and introducing them to their rights "technically, economically and socially."

The participants pointed out the necessity of relying on the local community to create funds at the village level in addition to a fund to finance family farming under the Ministry of Agriculture and with the participation of the concerned authorities, especially the General Union of Peasants, and to give incentives to encourage water resources at the governorate level and to emphasize the presence of water resources for projects, proposing the establishment of an electronic platform for the agricultural sector aimed at presenting All agricultural products and production requirements.

The participants called for mechanisms to facilitate family farmers' access to distant lands, expand the role of financing funds in the countryside supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, raise the ceiling for personal loans, activate the role of agricultural extension after training extension cadres in various governorates and expand water dams in the coastal region.

Several entities participated in today's meeting and in the specialized workshops that were held during the past month, namely the ministries of agriculture, agrarian reform, higher education, scientific research, local administration, environment and water resources, the General Peasants ’Union, the Agricultural Engineers Association, the Federation of Agricultural Chambers, the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority, the Syrian Agricultural Bank, and public micro-finance institutions. And private, experts and specialists in family and home farming.
