We have to talk about parallel societies in Germany.
About milieus that have become disconnected from the rest, in which their own rules apply and extremism can unfold undisturbed.
For a long time, the existence of such parallel worlds was deliberately hushed up, out of misunderstood consideration.
But now it's time to talk about Saxony.
Not about the many decent, if sometimes a little worried citizens of the Free State.
It's about the Saxon government and the authorities subordinate to them, especially the police.
It is about a milieu in which enforcing the law is more a matter of luck.
Last weekend, more than 20,000 self-proclaimed "lateral thinkers" were allowed to demonstrate against the Corona measures - whereby "thinker" is a big word here.
So be it.
I am a big fan of the right to demonstrate.
Even in times of shutdown, citizens should be allowed to take to the streets, including against the sale of marzipan potatoes.
Whereby the question arises: Do citizens who demonstrate on November 7th, two days before the anniversary of the end of the GDR dictatorship, and screeching "dictatorship" over something in front of their mouths and noses, still have all the slats on the fence?
Or did the malicious virus destroy their historical consciousness?
Or did they never have one?
