Gimnasia de Comodoro and Argentino de Junín have between five and ten infected each, but they are not the only ones. This Saturday they continued playing: only Sunday's games were suspended.

After registering a contagion of Covid-19 in the week (Diego Romero), this Saturday

the bubbles

of the National Basketball League

exploded

.

Through its social networks, Gimnasia de Comodoro Rivadavia, the team of the player who had contracted the virus, reported that eight members of his delegation also tested positive.

As the

Básquet Plus

site announced

, Argentino de Junín has between six and seven cases;

Sources consulted by this medium also report one in Bahía Basket, although there are versions that there would be more.

The infected gymnastics players are Juan Manuel Rivero, Jonatan Treise, Sebastián Orresta, Bernardo Barrera, Franco Giorgetti, Miguel Ruíz and Franco Ferraría.

In addition, the utility Marcelo Guitín also has Covid.

Of these, only Rivero and Giorgetti had mild symptoms, while the rest are asymptomatic for now.

This morning the results showed that Juan Manuel Rivero, Jonatan Treise, Sebastián Orresta, Bernardo Barrera, Franco Giorgetti, Miguel Ruíz, Franco Ferraría and the prop Marcelo Guitín tested positive for Covid 19.

This Saturday's date continued and will continue as scheduled - even the official communication spoke of sanctions in the event that a team decides not to appear - and tomorrow's was suspended and will be rescheduled.

The Crisis Committee made up of the Club Association and the Argentine Confederation met this Saturday morning with the presence of the president of AdC, Gerardo Montenegro, and the director of competitions of the same, Sergio Guerrero;

the head of the CABB, Fabián Borro;

the president of the Players Association, Michael Stura;

and the medical consultant Diego Grippo, head of the National Anti-Doping Commission who heads the medical leg of the Committee.

After said meeting,

the determination was made to completely isolate the delegations of Gymnastics and Argentino

and carry out swabs to all the members of the "bubbles" and after obtaining the results, to decide how the League will continue.

To understand the more than possible relationship between chain infections, we

must recapitulate the events of the last ten days.

Last Wednesday (November 11), Romero received the positive result of his coronavirus test done on Tuesday.

By his own determination, the pivot had decided to seclude himself in his room (he had to sleep only because the partner he would have came from abroad and had not arrived in Argentina) since early Sunday morning, at the first symptoms.

The previous Thursday (11/5), both he and his colleagues had been swabbed, but then all the results were negative.

On Friday 6, Gimnasia and Romero played against, precisely, Argentino de Junín.

On Saturday the 7th, Comodoro's team faced Hispano Americano and the Juninenses faced San Lorenzo.

On Tuesday 10, Hispano played with Boedo's club, Argentino collided with Peñarol and Gimnasia, with Bahía Basket.

On Wednesday, the bahienses had a duel with the San Lorenzo fans and Gimnasia against Boca.

Suddenly

all those teams have confirmed cases, to be confirmed or players with symptoms

(fortunately, in no case are they serious).

This same Saturday morning, Boca beat San Lorenzo 82-63, Hispano began playing with Obras at 2:00 p.m. and the programming for the rest of the day indicates that Peñarol must play with Bahía at 9:30 p.m. (Argentino-Platense and Gimnasia-Ferro were postponed due to the isolation of the two teams with outbreaks).

In all this situation, the so-called "incubation period" was ruled out, that is, the time that passes between when the virus is contracted and the symptoms appear (if they do).

It can last between 1 and 14 days, so those who were in contact with a positive case are asked to isolate themselves for two weeks.

Why was it done and why were the games played?

As explained by the Crisis Committee to this medium, the recommendations of the National Ministry of Health were followed regarding the consideration of "narrow cases."

They, they explain, occur when there is a distance of less than 1.5 meters for 15 minutes or when an environment without ventilation is shared for two hours.

In that sense, the League did nothing more than follow government guidelines.

This official medical consideration was privileged over the determination of other competitions that would function as a reference, such as the ACB League of Spain, in which there were matches immediately suspended with only one case in any of the teams.

But it is worth asking: Did the dinners or lunches of the teams last or do they last in the hotel rooms, with at least five players at the same table and up to 8 or 10, less than 15 minutes?

As stated by several players under name reservation in a note published in

Clarín

last Monday, the conditions of the bubble were far from ideal, with clear failures in the organization and errors in the application of the protocols, and also some lack of care among the delegations themselves in minor cases.

Adrián Boccia: "At no time was it a bubble"

The symbol of Boca spoke of the organization of the National League

In the last hours, according to the

24-second

media

outlet, Nicolás De Cunto, Argentine utility man, was heavily downloaded on social networks.

"When there is a beach in between and the health of the people does not matter, you realize the kind of people behind all this circus and all this business," he wrote on his Facebook account as reproduced by the Corrientes site.

After the match between Boca and San Lorenzo, Adrián Boccia, symbol of Xeneize, told

UcU TV

: “This was

never

a bubble, it is a concentration, and that generates fear at this moment.

You have to be aware and take it seriously.

If we ask for basketball to come back, we have to do things right. "
