The Bad Wiessee maypole will be placed in the middle of the central parking lot.
Two parking spaces are sacrificed for this.
The traditional costume club is satisfied with the new location.
Bad Wiessee
- The Wiesseer maypole will rise from the central parking lot into the sky.
The local council had already decided this at the October meeting.
The exact location has now been determined - and it is clear: two parking spaces are being sacrificed in favor of maintaining tradition.
There was apparently “incomprehension” among citizens about the choice of location
Mayor Robert Kühn (SPD) did not want to lead a discussion on whether a parking lot is the right home for a maypole in the local council on Thursday.
Johannes von Miller (Greens) had stated that after the fundamental decision in October he had been approached by various people about the new location.
"There was definitely a lack of understanding," said Miller.
Some citizens would have preferred Lindenplatz.
For the chairman of the traditional costume club, safety is what counts above all
Georg Erlacher, CSU councilor and chairman of the local costume club, made it clear again why the central parking lot was the better choice.
The focus, Erlacher emphasized, is the safety aspect.
“We can cordon off the parking lot generously.” He was glad that the custom was still going on - and he was satisfied with the decision, said Erlacher.
The space around the tree should still be spruced up
In the end, the municipal council voted by a large majority for the maypole to be positioned in the middle row of the park between the first and second parking spaces.
This is relatively in the middle of the central parking lot, explains Thomas Holzapfel from the municipality's technical building department.
“The tree is very present there.” The committee accepted that two parking spaces would be lost as a result.
An optical upgrade is also planned: the area around the Bad Wiesseer maypole is to be paved with a paved area of around two by two meters and decorated with flower troughs.
