International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said he hopes spectators will be able to attend the Tokyo Olympics in "a post-coronavirus world." He trusted that a vaccine will make the competition scheduled for July 2021 safer. In France, the Minister of Health, Olivier Veran, said that the decrease in cases of covid-19 suggests that the peak of infections has already been registered in that country. Veran said the decline in the number of infections was due to security and confinement measures, but they have not beaten the virus yet. The government of India will fly doctors and paramedics from its security forces to New Delhi to combat the outbreak of covid-19 that affects that city. The Indian capital already registers almost 500,000 infections. In Belarus, at least 1,000 people were detained during protests against that country's leader Alexander Lukashenko. Protesters are demanding his resignation after the August elections, which they say were rigged. The death of protester Roman Bondarenko on Thursday intensified the protests.
