Tegernsee -

Advent and Christmas are not far away - for the Tegernseer Tal crib association this usually means high season.

The members are busy with handicrafts and the preparations for their stand at the Tegernsee Castle Market.

But this year everything is different because of Corona and the partial lockdown.

We asked the chairman Christoph Rouleaux (46) from Munich how the club life is currently and what he personally hopes for the pre-Christmas period.

Mr Rouleaux, your club is usually particularly active in November.

Is it now time to stand still?

Rouleaux:

After the easing in the summer, our members had just started meeting again on Fridays for handicrafts in the Quirinal.

One or two monthly meetings also took place when the restaurants were open.

We have of course completely stopped these activities.

At the end of November we would also have liked to reschedule our May devotion - it cannot take place either.

Our Christmas party on December 12th is also on the brink - like all other clubs we can only decide spontaneously what works and what doesn't.

So it is a good thing that no crib exhibition was planned for the association this year, right?

Rouleaux:

I'm actually very happy about that.

The next exhibition will not take place again until December next year - we hope that we will be able to use the Tegernsee local history museum again.

But of course we would have been there this year at the Schlossmarkt in Tegernsee.

Since this does not take place, our members can at least work more relaxed and without pressure on their crib accessories this year.

And things don't get old - we can sell them at the next castle market.

Do you worry that club life will suffer long-term due to Corona?

Rouleaux:

Not really.

Our members keep in contact with each other - of course, all taking into account the Corona requirements.

For example, we met for a parish fair.

There was also an excursion to Austria - it doesn't always run as an event for the entire association, the members often get together in small groups.

How are the two large exhibits of the association - the Freiberger crib and the Stegmaier crib - going on?

Are they still housed in the Quirinal parish center in Tegernsee?

Rouleaux:

In fact, the cribs are still in the Quirinal and are still not open to the public due to fire protection regulations.

That's a pity.

We urgently need to think about something here.

We will probably approach the individual communities in search of a new location.

How are you personally with the November lockdown?

Rouleaux:

What I think is a shame is the fact that you can no longer spontaneously and uninhibitedly make something with friends and acquaintances.

Too many regulations have to be observed for this.

You just notice that you suddenly lose your personal contacts.

And what are you hoping for in the run-up to Christmas?

Rouleaux:

During Advent and Christmas, I prefer to be at home anyway - I don't necessarily have to go out.

The markets are often too busy for me.

You can also make yourself comfortable at home - we will probably tinker a few things privately and of course rebuild a crib.
