This is how the neighborhood helpers in Dorfen and Erding respond to the lockdown in winter with their offers.

And the “Youth Initiative Covid-19” is still available.

Dorfen / Erding

- For months, the food banks in Dorfen and Erding were able to hand out their groceries outdoors without any problems.

But now it's getting too cold for that and sometimes too wet.

The two neighborhood helpers (NBH) who run the boards in their cities deal with the problem of cold differently.

So far, the second lockdown has not posed too much of a problem.

Additional help or completely new initiatives like those in the first lockdown have not yet started.

“Our table room has a door to the outside.

We will spend from the inside to the outside ”, explains the Dorfener NBH chairwoman Ruth Wildgrube the latest change.

The retired elementary school teacher does not expect long waiting times, as customers arrive at different times.

To minimize the risk of infection, safety distances were marked with adhesive strips on the floor.

In Erding, too, great importance is attached to the safety of customers and helpers.

"We have been back inside for almost a month," reports Petra Bauernfeind, chairwoman of the NBH Erding.

For this purpose, spit protection walls were erected in the interior.

People should go through as quickly as possible.

"During the issue, a solid core of helpers emerged who work fearlessly," says Bauernfeind, who is also the Vice Mayor of Erding.

Older helpers, who may themselves belong to the risk group, have been working increasingly in the background for a long time: “On Mondays and Tuesdays, the goods are sorted and stored.

You can get out of the way very well. ”But the number of helpers has recently declined:“ Some volunteers have completely withdrawn during the pandemic because they are quite old and don't want to expose themselves to unnecessary risk, ”said the 50 -year-old Erdinger.

At the beginning of the pandemic, a wave of helpfulness broke out, especially among young district citizens.

Many people who were suddenly on short-time work or in the home office offered their support.

This is how the “Covid-19 youth initiative” was created on Facebook with around 200 young helpers, as co-initiator Alice Geyer (19) from Oberding explains.

“We had up to ten inquiries a day.” But since the end of June there has been silence here.

The NBH Dorfen also benefited from the wave of aid.

When it was not really clear how the food should be distributed during the first lockdown, a delivery service was quickly set up with new and younger volunteers.

When there was a hygiene concept for the issue, it was cut back.

Some offers from NBH Erding also came to a standstill between the two lockdowns.

“Our children's groups started again in October.

Now that has to be stopped again, ”reports Bauernfeind.

The group “Seniors help seniors” would have met again for the first time since March at the end of October, but then the number of new infections rose rapidly.

Now many seniors and younger people are threatened with isolation.

In order to counteract this, the Dorfener NBH has set up a chat phone, which can be reached on tel. (0 80 81) 95 77 260. Wildgrube says that the offer has not yet been used so heavily, Are available who, if necessary, can also refer to professional help centers ”.

There is no such explicit offer in Erding, but Bauernfeind assures us: "You can call us anyway or come over, even to chat."

You can also call the helpers of the “Youth Initiative Covid-19”.

Geyer assures: “We are still there.

If someone can't go shopping or the dog has to go out - just give us a call. ”You can reach the youth initiative on Tel. (01 52) 03 78 42 50 or via the Facebook page.

The young student promises: "We will continue to help."
