New York-Sana
The United Nations envoy to the Middle East, Nikolai Mladenov, reiterated that the establishment of Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories violates international law and undermines the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
In statements reported by Palestinian media, Mladenov expressed his concern about the occupation authorities ’plan to establish new settlements in occupied Jerusalem, indicating that this would undermine the possibility of establishing an independent Palestinian state.
Yesterday, the Israeli occupation authorities announced a new settlement plan to establish 1257 settlement units to expand a settlement established on Palestinian lands in the village of Beit Safafa, south of occupied Jerusalem.
