With the participation of 40 swimmers representing eleven countries, the activities of the Tishreen International Swimming Championships for five kilometers were concluded today, which was organized by the Syrian Olympic Committee and the Swimming and Water Games Federation in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism on Lamira Beach in Lattakia.

SANA monitored the views of a number of participants at the end of the race, where swimmer Igor Kukharif from Ukraine expressed his happiness to be in the city of Lattakia and to participate in this distinctive sporting event in terms of the wonderful organization, indicating that this is his second visit to Syria since 2013 “this beautiful country by its nature and its kind people.

In turn, the Omani swimmer Nayef Al Qasimi said that the race was good, expressing his admiration for this safe country, which he is visiting for the first time, and that he is ready to repeat this visit and participate in the upcoming tournaments. It was his first participation in foreign competitions, pointing out that the competition was strong with the rest of the swimmers.

The first-place swimmer in the women's category, Inana Suleiman, said that she is very proud of this great achievement, by obtaining first place in an international competition for the first time, although she found it difficult in the beginning, but that did not discourage her from her ambition to win.

Jana Kostandvika from Macedonia, second-ranked winner, expressed her admiration for Syria, inviting all swimmers around the world to visit and enjoy its sea and its picturesque nature.

Ayman Al-Nimr, swimming coach Inana Suleiman, referred to the efforts made by the organizers to make this sporting event a success and to the good organization and technical level presented by the participants.

Veteran Syrian swimmer Jalal Zaidan pointed out the importance of this event to deliver a message to the whole world that Syria is a country of love and peace, pointing to the need to learn to swim, especially for young age groups, to prepare them later to be a companion for the national team later in the regional and international tournaments.

The President of the General Sports Federation, Firas Mualla, stressed the importance of the race and the indications it carries, indicating at the same time that the success of this event is a firm evidence of Syria’s strength and its ability to organize tournaments and sporting events regardless of the challenges.

The race ended with the Syrian swimmers Saleh Muhammad and Inana Suleiman winning first place in the men's and women's categories.
