Last night in Washington: Members of the right-wing extremist Proud Boys, hundreds of whom had come to the capital, clash with left-wing counter-demonstrators - primarily the Black Lives Matter movement.

The vast majority of the Proud Boys are masked.

Only when the police step in and use pepper spray - the violence subsides.

A person comes to the hospital with stab wounds, at least 10 protesters are arrested.

Previously, the demonstration by Trump supporters under the motto "Million MEGA-MARCH" - based on Trump's campaign motto Make America Great Again - was largely peaceful.

As with the inauguration, there were again different information about the number of participants: The organizers spoke of a million, observers and the media estimated around 10,000.

Trump himself announced that there were hundreds of thousands.

The pro-Trump activists chant "Four more years".

Like the US president, they refuse to recognize the election result.

Original sound from CW Wheeler: "It's not over., Not even close. Those who claim that are lying. There is still no election result and no newly elected president. Everything is a lie."

However, there is no evidence of election fraud, as claimed by Trump and his supporters.

Trump's lawyers have failed in a series of lawsuits.

The Department of Homeland Security, led by a Trump confidante, and polling officers from 50 states have issued a statement calling the election "the safest in US history".

And what does the president do?

Donald Trump had indicated to his fans that he wanted to appear at the rally.

He did that too, if only as he drove past.

He was drawn to the golf course once more.
