Before the renovation work on the enclosure, which is due to begin in summer 2021, a consultation has been launched to collect the opinions of ha

A modern stadium but faithful to its history, with a human face but now up to Ligue 1 standards. This is the course set for the renovation of the Bauer stadium, the mythical enclosure of the Red Star inaugurated in 1909 in Saint-Ouen (Seine -St Denis).

These contours were drawn on October 24 by the mayor (PS) Karim Bouamrane, and the mission entrusted to the Réalités group, winner of the Inventons la Métropole du Grand Paris competition.

But before the start of the work, announced for the summer of 2021 (with delivery in 2024), it is the inhabitants who have the floor, with a consultation open on a digital platform until November 25.

A report will be presented on December 14, in city council.

Because the new Bauer will not be just a stadium.

The mayor of Saint-Ouen is already talking about a future “open living space offering many services”.

And who will live seven days a week, “and not just 15 days a year, on game nights”.

"Not yet another shopping center"

When there is no football, what can we find there?

The inhabitants can comment on different themes: what development for the surroundings?

What leisure activities can you set up there?

What type of business?

In all, the project provides for 40,000 m2 of activities.

On the platform, many residents have already taken up their pen and their contributions are publicly visible.

For example, many reject the idea of an “umpteenth commercial space” attached to the stadium, wanting instead “green spaces […] which are so lacking in the neighborhood.

"A shopping center would make no sense", adds another resident, who recalls the failure of the Millennium, one of the major centers born in the area, and in very poor health in Aubervilliers.

Asked about this, Karim Bouamrane rejects the idea of a “shopping center that swallows up or distorts an entire city.

"He recalls the main lines he has set:" A hyper vegetated stadium, beautiful, which will not be a UFO but which on the contrary will fit perfectly into its neighborhood.

It also evokes all the diversity of the offer that could be found in the future district.

"A place where you can rehearse music, have parties, where you can do business, show solidarity, cool off in a heat wave ..."

What if we heated the HLM city thanks to the stands?

On the platform, other residents comment on the architecture: “The proposed building seems massive to me, in this street, it would quickly give the impression of suffocating […] The use of concrete and buildings that are too bulky do not are not so recommended.

Another gives an idea: install photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the new stands: "They represent several thousand m2, enough to supply the entire neighboring low-cost housing estate!"

"

Note that the stadium will also host a health activity with new practitioners related to sport but also well-being, announces the city.

Here too, an Audonien expresses a wish: to set up an analysis laboratory, a big lack in Saint-Ouen.

To take a blood test, you have to wait hours at Garibaldi, even before the Covid ... "

What about game nights?

This is the other major part of this consultation.

How to avoid the hassle in the neighborhood on the night of Red Star games?

Here too, the theme interests the inhabitants, many of whom have expressed their views.

“It would be good for the city to equip itself with peripheral car parks […] at the main entrances

(Editor's note: from Saint-Ouen)

so that supporters or spectators can go to the stadium on foot or by transport.

"

Thomas, too, is asking for more space for "gentle circulation", scooters and bicycles.

“These peaceful spaces would also make it possible to have more cafes, bars and restaurants with pleasant terraces,” he believes.

Here again, Karim Bouamrane promises that the sector will not be congested by cars on match night: “We will completely get out of this model, he announces.

The ideal is that when you come to Bauer, it will be either via the Garibaldi metro, at Mairie-de-Saint-Ouen or Porte-de-Clignancourt, but also that cycle paths can provide direct access to the Stadium.

To have a 100% green stadium, it is fundamental.

In Bauer, you can get there by metro, bicycle or on foot.

"

A thousand questionnaires completed in one week

The future renovation of the Bauer stadium is already fascinating residents and supporters.

The proof: from the first days, the online platform has seen very high traffic.

In one week, 12,000 connections were recorded by the city, and nearly 4,000 went to the section concerning the renovation of the stadium.

A thousand questionnaires were completed, a conversion rate of 27%.

We discover questions very focused on the stadium and football.

Example: "Do you approve of the choice of an English-style stadium, that is to say of rectangular shape which follows the lines of the field as closely as possible, with stands very close to the touchline to bring the teams closer together. spectators of the game?

"

But also a myriad of questions about what will be found in the future complex. Local residents can thus, for example, give their opinion on “the food shops

[which they

consider to be the most important: fishmongers, butchers, charcuterie, wine shops, cheese shops, etc. "
