The repercussions of the war on Syria and the unjust blockade have not prevented the Syrian publishing industry

from registering its mark at the Sharjah International Book Fair in its 39th session.

More than 90 Syrian publishers participated in the exhibition, which concluded yesterday and held the title “The World Reads from Sharjah” to cross over to the publishing world in the Arab world again.

Regarding the exhibition organized by the Sharjah Book Authority, Haitham Hafez, President of the Syrian Publishers Union, explained in a statement to SANA that the book industry in Syria attended the exhibition strongly and presented new products in an indication of the return of the shine to this industry, especially as it has always been at the forefront of its Arab counterparts.

Hafez indicated that the Syrian participation included more than 60 publishers who participated in the exhibition directly, and 20 publishers through agencies with a variety of different titles and high-value content, as well as co-authors, so that the Syrian participation achieved an effective presence in the exhibition, which witnessed a wide international participation represented by 1,024 publishing houses from 73 countries. .

He pointed out that the Syrian presence was not limited to books and new publications, but also included professional activities and cultural seminars, which exceeded the 64 activities and were held either virtually or through direct reality.

The President of the Publishers Union expressed his hope that this exhibition will be the first of its kind that returns to open its doors in the region since the spread of the Corona virus, an introduction to the return of the rest of the Arab book fairs to receive their visitors and celebrate the book.
