Damascus today invited its beloved diplomat, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Walid al-Muallem, after he engraved in the memory of the Syrians a history of political and patriotic action that was not devoid of remarkable positions in his calm and decisive diplomatic language together that bore confidence, dignity and rejection of any prejudice to Syria and its rights.
A few days ago, Minister Al-Moallem preferred to participate in the opening of the International Conference for the Return of Refugees, in defiance of the disease that appeared clear on the features of his face, to direct through his attendance his last call to the people of Syria to return to the homeland after the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Syria was carrying a message last month. In it, he criticizes the Western role in obstructing the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland and the Western powers politicizing the issue of the displaced in order to achieve their political agendas.
Minister Al-Moallem's positions prompted the European Union to impose sanctions on him among national figures since 2011 and later the US sanctions as a result of exposing the Western role in supporting terrorism against the Syrian people, but he did not stop criticizing Western policies and exposing the coercive measures against Syria and describing Western officials as a "chorus of liars." During a speech by Syria at the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly, he said that the “Caesar Act” aims to put pressure on the Syrian people in their livelihood and daily life and an attempt to suffocate them.
Returning to Geneva 2 in 2014, when Al-Muallem recorded a different position in the history of the United Nations by insisting on ending his speech on Syria and exceeding the specified time, despite the repeated insistence of Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations at the time, to shorten his speech, as the teacher responded very calmly, “I traveled all this distance by plane to talk about Syria, give me just a few minutes. ”But Ban Ki-moon returned to alert the teacher to the necessity of shortening, so that the teacher’s answer would come ..“ Syria always fulfills its promises .. I cannot break this word ... and I cannot promise you to finish it .. I have to complete it all. ”To repeat the speech For another twenty minutes without being interrupted by the Secretary-General again.
The scene was not completed until the teacher waved his finger, directing a message to then-US Secretary of State John Kerry, saying his famous word .. “Mr. Kerry .. no one in the world has the right to legitimize, dismiss, or grant it to a president, government, constitution, law, or anything In Syria, only the Syrians themselves.
That scene will not be forgotten by the Syrians, and perhaps others, as it is a Syrian mark registered in the name of the experienced and powerful minister who skillfully used them as a weapon to defend Syria against the toughest fronts of diplomatic and political wars.
Al-Muallem has always translated the steadfast Syrian position and adherence to national principles and the restoration of the occupied land when he said before the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly .. “A dreamer who believes that the difficult conditions that Syria is going through will change the fact that the Golan was, is, and will remain a Syrian land that we are fighting for its restoration. "The full term until the borders of June 4, 1967, and that this matter cannot be subject to bargaining or extortion, or be subject to the statute of limitations."
And the teacher was keen to consolidate Syria's position in support of the Palestinian people in the mindset of the international community, so he embraced the word resistance that used to sound in all fields to utter the word of truth that few uttered at this time.
Al-Muallem has made advanced international diplomatic steps since the beginning of the war on Syria in 2011 and has succeeded in clarifying the reality of what is happening in terms of the consequences of the conspiracy in every local and international forum and occasion, and revealing the falsehood of American allegations to cover its ambitions through numerous statements, the most recent of which was in the press conference in which the teacher participated during the visit of the Foreign Minister Russian Sergey Lavrov to Damascus last September and his sentence that occupied the broad "headlines" in many newspapers, "Washington imposes sanctions because it does not like the independent Syrian decision ... and it does not like our position on Israel and the resistance."
