2020-11-17T23:50:32.025Z

At the end of a videoconference with many players in the French sports world, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron announced several helpers, and raised the question of the return to practice and the public.

The president of the French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) Denis Masseglia had confided to

Le Figaro

his hope to be heard and to see a message, from the executive, in favor of sport.

This Tuesday, he obtained a response from the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron who held a videoconference with many players in the sports world.

Three main themes were discussed: amateur sport, professional sport and sports / event halls.

For various announcements, the total amount of which would amount to a little over 400 million euros.

This would be "largely sufficient", according to the Elysee, to compensate for the current losses until the end of December.

While specifying however that it was not a question of a whole which would not evolve any more, but of aid adapted to the first evaluation made.

100 million to unlock to facilitate access to sport for the most disadvantaged

In the context of amateur sport, the Head of State announced the establishment, as wished by the President of the CNOSF, of a “Pass'Sport” which will allow minors coming from disadvantaged backgrounds or people in disabled, to benefit from assistance to absorb the cost of a license.

The technical details of such a measure - eligibility conditions, amounts ... - have not yet been established but the overall cost of such a measure would amount to 100 million euros according to the Elysee.

Regarding the practice for minors, the health situation will be reassessed on December 1 and the will of the Head of State would be to allow a resumption of activity, with reinforced protocols, on that date.

If, however, the evolution of the pandemic did not allow it, another date, set for mid-December, would be established.

A recovery which should however initially only concern minors.

Help for professional sports too

Regarding professional sport, the Elysée has confirmed the agreement of the European Commission concerning the establishment of a compensation fund of 110 million euros to cover part of the losses in ticketing.

A ceiling would be set per club at 5 million euros.

The federations would also be eligible, like those of football or rugby concerning ticketing losses for the matches of the selections.

In addition, there will be an exemption from social charges for the months of October, November and December, which represents a cost of 35 million euros monthly.

From now on, all clubs would be eligible, even without a drop in turnover.

For the return of the public to the stadiums, a change in dogma will see the light of day.

The gauges will no longer be arbitrarily set at 1,000 or 5,000 spectators, but will depend on the total capacity of the sports venue.

However, for the moment, no precise date or modalities have been decided and a public return will not be considered before 2021 in the best case.
