Charles de Gaulle
(Éditions de La Martinière) is a hybrid book, between graphic novel and illustrated report.
The author, Raynal Pellicer, spent eighteen days in immersion aboard the French nuclear aircraft carrier in June 2019 during the “Clemenceau” mission, which took place from March to July 2019. It was his first long operational deployment since a shutdown for renovation between 2017 and 2018. Raynal Pellicer's story and meetings were illustrated by the designer Titwane.
They drew from it an intimate and human description of the flagship of the navy.
This is not their first collaboration: Raynal Pellicer and Titwane produced, between 2013 and 2016, a trilogy noticed within the judicial police.
