The old Tel Aviv marathon, which draws tens of thousands of runners every year, did not succumb to the corona plague.
"Israel Today" has learned that the marathon that is expected to be held on Friday, February 19, 2001, will be held this year in a virtual race format.
The Corona period has led to the abolition of many races around the country, and ahead of the upcoming racing season, organizers are preparing to find an alternative to the Corona days.
Runners who register for the Tel Aviv Marathon (registration will open in a few days) will receive in the best tradition of the marathon their runner kits, which include a shirt and a number of runners, at the distribution positions to be determined throughout the city.
However, in light of the Corona's restrictions, Israel Today has learned that the race will not be held this time on regulated tracks, but a dedicated app will be launched that the runners will connect to.
Each runner will be able to determine his or her own route around the city in person.
In other words, the starting line can also be from the home of the Tel Aviv residents.
Today is the last meeting to close all the technical matters, and it seems that the medal for each runner will arrive ahead of time in the runner's kit and not at the end of the track as was customary until today.
It should be noted that next Friday a Givatayim race will be held in a similar manner.
The runners in the city will perform the run in person.
Each of the runners will be able to run on the track he sees fit: in the park, around the city, in the garden or even on the treadmill.
The "Kafayim" company, which produces the Tel Aviv Marathon, responded that "the event is in the final stages of closing, and will be published when there is something to publish in the coming days."
