The South Korean state news agency reported today (Tuesday) a 2.6-magnitude earthquake that occurred in North Korea and was measured at the National Seismographic Institute in Seoul.

According to the evidence released by the news agency, the earthquake occurred a few miles from Fuengi-ri in Mahong Province, the site where the closed state has conducted a series of nuclear tests in the past.

South Korea argues that this may be another nuclear test or a landslide caused by previous nuclear tests.

The South Korean Meteorological Service noted that the area where the earthquake occurred is not particularly seismic and the noise is likely related to a recent or past nuclear test conducted at the site.

Southern media were quick to point out that the action may be in a message to the new administration emerging in the United States under the leadership of Joe Biden, the elected president of the United States.

Experts estimate that North Korea may take powerful measures due to the difficult economic situation of Pyongyang, after the corona crisis in China caused a new drop in investment in the country and a series of devastating floods caused damage to the country’s agricultural sector.

North Korea officially claims that it has not harmed the corona virus but experts estimate that the virus has indeed harmed the country and residents of the country who fled it told foreign media that the country does indeed suffer from a significant corona outbreak.
