The time has finally come: new trains have been approved on the Munich - Nuremberg route after four years.
The
Munich-Nuremberg Express
runs on the tracks of the ICE line.
Old intercity trains have been in use on the route for over 14 years.
Something should change when the timetable changes on December 13th.
Munich - The
Munich-Nuremberg Express
is the pride and joy of the Bavarian Railway Company, which organizes local transport in the Free State: local trains run through the tunnels at speeds of up to 200 km / h on the tracks of the ICE route - faster than anywhere in Germany .
The journey time is therefore an hour shorter than on the old route via Treuchtlingen.
In 2006, old intercity trains were painted red and sent on the route.
Because ICE trains meet in the tunnels, the wagons have to withstand high pressure differences.
Munich - Nuremberg: New trains approved after four years
Four years ago, the outdated wagons were to be replaced by new double-decker wagons from the Czech manufacturer
Skoda
- with 676 instead of the previous 413 seats, wheelchair-accessible facilities and more bicycle parking spaces.
The entrances are also provided with wide sliding doors and are barrier-free.
Skoda double-decker trains should actually go into operation on the popular express route as early as summer 2019.
The railway technical approval took four years, but now the time has come: The first new wagons have been
in use
on the
Munich – Treuchtlingen
route since yesterday
.
The train drivers should be made familiar with the new trains before they are sent on the
high-speed line between Ingolstadt and Nuremberg
.
From the timetable change on December 13th, the Skoda trains will run on the ICE route, so there will be consistently fast trains between Munich and Nuremberg again.
Only four weeks until ... no, not #Christmas, but until the #time schedule change.
😁 The new #winter timetable will apply from December 13th, 2020.
⏰ 🚄 🆕 That means new connections, expansion of the #Deutschlandtakts and new #ICE trains!
