Authorities in the Negev, the Galilee and the social periphery are invited to submit applications as part of a call issued by the ministry and to receive, at no cost, measures that will save them millions of shekels.
Among other things, this involves smart garbage removal, while saving about 30% on garbage removal expenses;
Installation of solar roofs on public buildings, which will enable independent electricity generation and sale to the IEC;
Installation of cost-effective street lighting, which will contribute to savings and economic and energy efficiency.
The director general of the Ministry for the Development of the Periphery, the Negev and the Galilee, Ariel Mash'al, noted that currently the waste disposal expenses of a local authority amount to NIS 3 to 8 million per year.
The smart evacuation system, which combines sensors and a volume detector, will allow the authority to know the amount of garbage in each bin in the city.
According to him, an authority that wins the installation of 2 of the 3 systems (garbage, lighting and solar roofs) will be able to save about NIS 1 million a year.
