A man blew himself up on Tuesday (November 17) in a restaurant in Mogadishu, killing five people and injuring a dozen others, AFP learned from Somali police and a witness.
This suicide attack was carried out in a restaurant near a police institution in the Somali capital.

The death of five people, including two police officers, has been confirmed and more than ten have been injured,
" Mohamed Abdirahman, a police officer present at the scene, told AFP.
He said that among the wounded taken to hospital, several were "
seriously affected
".
According to a witness to the explosion, Abdukadir Hussein, several dozen customers were in the restaurant when the man blew himself up.
"A
lot of people inside were injured and I personally saw the bodies of two people,
" he said, describing a situation of chaos in the area where the explosion "
took place.

This attack was not immediately claimed, but the Shebabs, a Somali jihadist group linked to al-Qaeda, regularly carry out attacks against government targets and civilians in Mogadishu.
The Shebabs controlled the Somali capital before being ousted in 2011 by African Union troops.
