Constance - The corona pandemic (* BW24 reported) has been going on for a while now - and the longer it keeps us in suspense, the more conspiracy theories come into circulation.

One of the most famous and popular conspiracy theories surrounding the

coronavirus

is that

Bill Gates

and his wife Melinda spread the coronavirus

to

control

the

world

.

Such and similar

conspiracy theories

are especially circulating on the Internet.

A

Berlin start-up

now wants to fight such absurd stories.

The founders have developed an

app to

help users discover conspiracy theories.

Start-up: Fake news and conspiracy theories lurk everywhere on the internet

The media startup

“The Buzzard”

wants to

test

its

news app

in schools

.

Through the app, the students should learn in class

to recognize

conspiracy theories

and break open opinion filter bubbles on the Internet.

Because it is especially

difficult

for

young people

to distinguish fake news from real news.

Young people would primarily

use

their

smartphones

to find out about world events.

However,

filter bubbles

and

fake news

lurk on the

Internet

, says start-up co-founder Dario Nassal of the

dpa

.

Co-founder Felix Friedrich added: “We can see from the example of the USA how bad the social division is for a democracy.

But in this country too, the Corona shows that more and more people are increasingly living in their bubbles ”.

News app: Positions are classified in a journalistic way

The news app from the Berlin start-up shows the

students

different

points of view

on current

topics

from the media such as newspapers, magazines, blogs and the Internet.

In addition, she classifies the positions as a

journalist

and can be used in

political

or

social studies

classes.

Ten pilot schools from several federal states are participating in the app.

This week the first

workshops

will take place

at two high schools in the

Konstanz

district.

The schools pay nothing for the app, it is

financed

by

foundations
