The international conference on the return of Syrian refugees that was held last week over the course of two days in Damascus was not one of us

The international conference on the return of Syrian refugees, which was held last week over two days in Damascus, was not a protocol event, as it was a platform for dialogue and exchange of ideas on collective practical steps and international efforts to be taken to provide the requirements for the return of Syrian refugees from refugee camps in neighboring countries to their homes and end their suffering. Exploited by some governments, groups and merchants of humanitarian work in the world.

Syria, which considers the issue of Syrian refugees abroad, in addition to being a humanitarian issue and a national issue that affects every Syrian home, also believes that it is an international responsibility, as it requires international efforts to facilitate the return of refugees, and helps in securing the requirements for return and ending their humanitarian tragedy, whether from the countries that host them or from the organizations International concerned with an issue like this.

The responsibility of some Western countries and governments stems from the fact that they have been involved in supporting terrorists who have deliberately destroyed the infrastructure in Syria, and displaced hundreds of thousands of Syrians internally and externally. Therefore, these countries are directly responsible for all the destruction that has befallen Syria, and for every refugee who left his home, It is required to support their return with concrete steps.

The Syrian refugees who are suffering today in refugee camps in Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan want to return to their homes and regions from which they were displaced by terrorism, and their return requires securing the basic necessities of life that the Syrian government seeks to secure, but the unjust US blockade and European coercive measures impede this, and disrupt the capabilities of the Syrian state to Reconstructing what terrorism has destroyed, thus ensuring the safe return of refugees and a decent life for Syrians.

The European countries ’boycott of the conference and Washington’s pressure on some countries wishing to attend do not suggest at all the seriousness of these countries in assuming their responsibilities in this field

Rather, it clearly showed Western hypocrisy when talking about the humanitarian situation of refugees, and revealed the falsehood of Western governments' claims of concern for Syrians in general and refugees in particular.

From this standpoint, the conference called in its closing statement to continue the fight against terrorism and lift the sanctions and unjust blockade, which constitutes the greatest impediment to the efforts of the Syrian state to secure the basic requirements for the return of refugees, as well as support Syria to provide housing for the displaced and their return to normal life and work on implementing projects related to early reconstruction that include basic facilities For the infrastructure, such as water, electricity, schools, hospitals, health and medical care and social services, as well as the humanitarian operation to clear mines.

Syria is serious about providing the requirements for the return of its refugee children, but the question: Is the international community that has refused to this day to abandon the exploitation of the refugee issue ready to change its policies and play a real role in this field?

Or will it continue to issue resonant data without any movement the refugees touch, and contribute to their return to their homes?
