The new crown pneumonia epidemic in Hong Kong has eased. Singapore and Hong Kong will officially implement the "Air Travel Bubble" next Sunday (22nd).

The Economic Development Panel of the Legislative Council held a meeting today (17th). One of the agendas discussed the latest developments in the "tourism bubble".

The Commissioner for Tourism Huang Zhizu pointed out that from November 22 to December 6, there will be only one exclusive flight to Singapore every day, with a maximum of 200 passengers.

Yao Sirong, member of the Legislative Council of the tourism industry, said that the industry recently reported to him that airlines do not provide group seats for exclusive flights on "Travel Bubbles".

"Maybe there are too few places, 200 a day."

There are still five days before the "tourism bubble" is officially implemented. The Commissioner for Tourism Huang Zhizu pointed out that at the beginning of the implementation of the measures, from November 22 to December 6, there will only be one exclusive flight to Singapore every day, and the maximum number of passengers will be picked up. 200 people, and the number of flights and pick-ups arriving from Singapore is the same.

From December 7th, the number of exclusive flights will be increased to two daily, that is, the maximum number of passengers can be 400.

He continued to point out that the arrangement will be reviewed again depending on future needs.

Yao Sirong, a member of the Legislative Council of the tourism industry, said that the industry recently reported to him that airlines do not have group seats for exclusive flights of "tourism bubbles": "It may be that there are too few seats, and it will take 200 a day."

But he estimated that with the subsequent increase in the supply of seats, he believes that airlines will resume providing group seats.

At the same time, he was worried that the tour groups between Singapore and Hong Kong could easily violate the local gathering restrictions because they did not provide clear guidelines.

Huang Zhizu responded that as the current restrictions on gatherings and exemptions are limited to local travel, cross-border tours will continue to follow up.

The agreement indicates that there are different restrictions and requirements based on the progress of the local epidemic. For example, the number of people in the two places is different.

You also emphasized that if the industry has any views on the policies of the Singapore authorities, the authorities are willing to reflect them.

The Director of Economic Development Qiu Tenghua also revealed at the meeting that there are still other countries inquiring about "tourism bubbles" through consulates.

But he said frankly, “I believe it’s difficult to talk about the exact timetable and list today, but I’ve said it before, not on a first-come, first-served basis.” He also pointed out that the most important thing is that the epidemics in the two places are similar. It also ensures that conditions are available for epidemic prevention.
