BMW has just made its main plant in Munich fit for i4.

But before the Stromer rolls off the assembly line, the Bavarians are celebrating the start of production of an iconic sports car.

  • BMW

is consistently expanding its range of sporty motorized vehicles.

  • Now

the latest version of an iconic sports car has rolled off the assembly line

    in

    Munich

    .

  • It should

    come on the market

    from

    March 2021

    .

Munich

- At the Munich car maker

BMW

*, preparations for the market launch of the

M3 are

in full swing.

On Monday, the group gave

the go-ahead for series production of the sports car

at its main plant in

Munich

.

The market launch is planned for next March.

The new model should also be available with all-wheel drive for the first time from summer and have 480 or 510 hp, depending on the version.

At the Munich plant *, the joy about the start-up of the new sports car is great: The

M3

“is an absolute icon and has a lot of fans in our works team, including me,” said

BMW

plant manager

Robert Engelhorn

at the start of production.

The M3 is one of the best-selling vehicles in the

BMW M GmbH

portfolio

.

Since the introduction of the first version 35 years ago, the company has sold around 340,000 units of the M3 and the two later introduced M4 Coupé and Cabrio variants.

The business with the lowered bolides is considered particularly lucrative.

In the basic configuration, the new M3 costs around 82,500 euros.

The price list for the 3 Series sedan starts at 35,600 euros.

The demand for the heavily motorized M models is booming.

Last year, the tuning subsidiary from the Munich district of

Garching had

a new

record year

with a sales increase of around a third to almost 136,000 vehicles

.

BMW: The 3-series rolls off the assembly line at the main Munich plant

BMW

builds the complete 3 Series in Munich, from the sedan to the touring to the M3.

Observers expect that the main plant should also manufacture the completely new 3 Series M Touring.

It would be the first 3-series station wagon with M-oomph in

BMW history

.

The Garching sports car manufacturer started testing the 3 Series M Touring in September and posted the first video of its new super packhorse.

It is scheduled to hit the market in 2023.

BMW: The quarterly figures come on Wednesday

The Munich carmaker presented its interim results for the third quarter on Wednesday.

According to the key data *, which was surprisingly published in mid-October, the Group received free cash inflows of 3.07 billion euros in its core business from July to September.

In view of the strong free cash flow, observers also expect good figures for the third quarter.

Group representatives had recently been much more optimistic about the current year.

BMW

boss

Oliver Zipse

told journalists a few days ago that the

X5 plug-in hybrid and the electric mini in particular were "surprised by the high demand"

.

Even

BMW

-Betriebsratschef Manfred Schoch had last been shown more confidence than in summer.

Similar to many other car manufacturers,

BMW

also benefits

from a "significantly changed mobility behavior", Schoch told Merkur.de * with regard to the Corona crisis.

“People fly less and they take less trains, subways or buses.” Instead, “the car is rapidly gaining importance”.

Many people now see their own car “as a personal shelter,” explained Schoch, who is also deputy head of the

BMW

supervisory board.
