The countries of the "BRICS" group reaffirmed their commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria.
"We announce once again our firm commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria," noting that the crisis in Syria "cannot be solved by military means."
The "BRICS" countries reaffirmed their international obligations to combat terrorism in all its forms, stressing the importance of unity in combating terrorist organizations in Syria.
On the Palestinian issue, the "BRICS" countries called for making new efforts for a just and comprehensive settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The countries of the group also welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Nagorny Karabakh between Azerbaijan and Armenia, stressing the need to support more political and diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing a lasting and comprehensive peace in the region.
On November 9, Armenia and Azerbaijan signed a ceasefire agreement in Nagorny Karabakh, which entered into force on the tenth of this month.
The "BRICS" summit also dealt with the Corona epidemic crisis pointing out that it will take measures to distribute the vaccine against the virus when it is available to the world's population on a fair and equitable basis and for a reasonable money
Today, the annual summit of the countries of the "BRICS" group, which includes Russia, China, Brazil, India and South Africa, was held under the chairmanship of Russian President Vladimir Putin, as Russia is chairing the current session of the group during the current year, through "video conference" technology in light of the Corona crisis.
The summit discussed cooperation prospects and the international agenda, and leaders of the grouping countries agreed on strategies prepared by Russia on combating terrorism and developing the economy.
President Putin had indicated during the summit that "the current global threats, including terrorism, are the most acute problem at the present time," adding that "unfortunately there are people trying to impose their own agenda."
The Russian President praised the rapid response of the countries of the group in facing the main challenge of 2020, which is the Corona virus crisis, as necessary measures were taken to combat the virus, noting that the countries of the group agreed five years ago to work together in facing the spread of infectious diseases.
