The Lattakia Schools Athletics Championship for Secondary Education, which was held by the Governorate's Education Directorate, under the supervision of the Technical Committee for Athletics, has been concluded at Al-Bassel Racecourse in Latakia.
And the final results in the boys' category resulted in Janadat al-Khair winning by pushing the iron ball, Hamza Habib by throwing the spear, Youssef Ibrahim by throwing the disc, Nabil Qanbar in the long jump, Musa Tashkarian in the high jump, Elias Dash running the 100 meters, Bilal Suleiman in the 200-meter race, Aws Jaloud in the 400-meter race, and Gnadat al-Khair in the 800-meter 3 race. Km and Ali Ibrahim 1500 meters.
In the female category, Sarah Tohme won by pushing the iron ball, Joelle Jamil by throwing a javelin and discus, Judy Tohme in the 100-meter hurdles race, the long jump, Batoul Shabib in the 100-meter race, Asra Akja in the 200-meter and 400-meter races, Nour Sheikh Habib 800 meters and Yula Al-Alouni in the 2 km race.
Head of the Training and Championships Division at the Directorate of Education in Lattakia Ali Qanjraoui said in a statement to the SANA Sports Bulletin, “School tournaments are an important station for students to uncover promising talents with the aim of selecting the first-placed holders of all games to form school teams to later participate in the Republic Championships.
In turn, Chairman of the Technical Subcommittee, Maurice Obaid Laft, indicated that work will be done to develop the talents that were discovered in the school tournaments, both technically and physically, according to a scientifically studied training program, in order to achieve the required goal to be ready to raise the Syrian flag in Arab and international forums.
