Transport Minister Miri Regev arrived yesterday (Tuesday) for a tour of the Nevatim area, and held a "professional work discussion" with heads of authorities in the south.

This is in order to "promote the implementation of its decision to establish the international complementary airport in Nabatieh," even though the professional echelon opposes and no decision has been made on the issue.

During the discussion, Netivei Israel CEO Nissim Peretz updated that the management of the field construction project will be carried out jointly by the Israeli company CPM and the Spanish company Ineco. At the end of the visit, the Minister added that "the construction of the third airport will be in Nabatieh.

I am aware of the Air Force's objections, but there are solutions to this. "

Regev clarified that she intends to bring the decision on the construction of the Nabataean field for discussion with the Prime Minister together with the Defense Minister," in order to advance the issue without delay. " Ben Gurion Airport is close to reaching its capacity. "

Already a few months ago, Regev announced that she intends to advance the field in Nabataeans, even though the professional echelon opposes, as does the army.

A decision has not yet been made, and this still requires the approval of the government and the approval of Defense Minister Bnei Gantz, who also tends to build an airport in the south, although not in the proposed location in Nabatieh.

The Air Force opposes the construction of the airport in Nabatieh due to flight restrictions.

The professional levels in the Planning and Construction Committee and the aviation experts oppose because the southern airport does not solve or meet Israel's future aviation needs, does not correspond to the distribution of future population concentrations and will not be a center of attraction for international airlines.

The Minister's announcements about the construction of the field join the series of announcements from the last few weeks issued by the Ministry of Transportation and the Minister's Office, which indicate a gap between the feasibility of establishing the project and the actual reality.

The price list of the national car, the high-speed electric train to Be'er Sheva, the train to Eilat, the construction of the train station near Meron and the sea shuttle service to Tel Aviv are part of the list.
