A total of 10.2 tonnes of cannabis was seized in October against 4.8 tonnes in September, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on Wednesday (November 18), during the monthly conference to present figures on the activity of law enforcement.

Police officers and gendarmes also seized 1 ton of cocaine, against 358 kg the previous month, as well as 120 kilos of heroin, against 66 kilos in September.

greeted Gérald Darmanin, during this second press conference on the activity of the security forces which was held in the presence of the Minister Delegate for Citizenship Marlène Schiappa.
In October 2019, 10.6 tonnes of cannabis and 1.5 tonnes of cocaine were seized, the Interior Ministry said.

” added Gérald Darmanin, citing “
1,250 trafficking dismantled
” and “
1,548 traffickers arrested
” in October, or 30% more compared to September and 63% more compared to August.
The minister also detailed the figures for the fixed fines of 200 euros sanctioning the use of narcotics (AFD).
8,579 AFD were drawn up in October, against 6,949 in September, the month in which the device came into effect.

On average, this represents 285 AFDs drawn up per day,
” said Gérald Darmanin.
The fight against drug trafficking is the "
mother of all battles
", recalled the Minister, who has made it his priority since his arrival at Place Beauvau.
