, Professor Didier Raoult reacted for the first time to the disciplinary procedure launched by the Order of Physicians against him last week.
This follows the filing of a complaint by the French-language Infectious Pathology Society (SPILF) last September, which accuses the professor of having touted hydroxychloroquine.

From his office at the University Hospital Institute (IHU) in Marseille, the infectious disease specialist declared that he was not “
surprised
” by these lawsuits.
He said he was the target of "
a very, very senior conspiracy
", without however specifying who he was referring to.
“
I had been warned very early.
I was told 'You know Didier, there is going to be a complaint to the Council of the Order of Physicians.
There will also be a complaint to the prosecutor of the Republic of Marseille,
”he continued.
Faced with the accusations of the SPLIF, which relate in particular to hydroxychloroquine, Didier Raoult defends himself and affirms: “
We treated 13,000 people so I take with great irony the fact that I am told that I never say the truth.
"
Didier Raoult then criticized the government for having mismanaged the Covid-19 crisis and for making it "
a purely political matter
".
He also accused the executive of not “
worrying about care
” and of having “
a vision that thinks that there is a scientific authority that is imposed on the scientist
”.
The professor also considers that there is no second wave of Covid-19 and prefers to speak of “
a succession of small epidemics
”.
“
I never understood what the second wave was.
I don't know what it is and I don't want to create a semantic quarrel (...) Our interpretation is that there are two variants (...)
”, he declared.
