The work for the police, rescuers and the fire brigade lasted until 3.45 a.m.

A few moments later, the police received reports of a serious accident near Hohenbrunn.
But any help came too late for the four inmates.

fire brigades
using hydraulic rescue equipment.

According to the first findings of the Hohenbrunn motorway police, a wrong-way driver had driven onto the A99 near Hohenbrunn and collided with an oncoming vehicle only a short time later.

The A99 towards Salzburg was closed for several hours while the accident was recorded.
The opposite direction had also been blocked to ensure that no one involved wandered about in shock.
It could be released again after about an hour.
Four people died in the wrecks.
