The agricultural reality is witnessing a remarkable improvement in the governorate of Aleppo after the introduction of new areas through investment, especially in the areas liberated from terrorism in the northern, western and southern countryside, in addition to working to implement the plans of the new Ministry of Agriculture to allocate areas of land for wheat cultivation that exceeded 200 thousand hectares.

Engineer Radwan Harsouni, Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Aleppo, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent that an amount of 100 million Syrian pounds has been allocated to rehabilitate the southern, western and northern countryside that have been affected by terrorism during the government delegation's visit to the region after its liberation, of which 50 million pounds were distributed to the extension units to rehabilitate them. The conclusion of contracts for its reconstruction last month and 50 million pounds to rehabilitate the Al Kamari forest nursery in the liberated Zerba area, south of Aleppo, which produces one million forest plantings annually, and the completion rate is 50 percent, and work is scheduled to end with the extension units by the end of this year.

He indicated that this year is the year of wheat cultivation, as work is being done to implement the Ministry’s plans to cultivate every square meter of arable agricultural land with wheat crops. A plan has been drawn up to cultivate 159 thousand hectares distributed between 104 thousand hectares of irrigated wheat and 50 thousand hectares of Baal wheat, with an increase of 50 thousand hectares. For the last year, after the introduction of new lands in agriculture, work is also being done to prevent the cultivation of barley in the first and second stability areas, and thus the area of ​​land allocated for wheat cultivation was increased by 45 thousand hectares, and working groups were formed in the Agriculture Directorate in coordination with the Farmers Union at the level of the extension unit and the village to follow up Growing wheat and securing its production requirements.

The Directorate is working to secure production requirements for farmers, including securing 50 percent of fertilizers and coordinating with the Ministry of Oil to secure agricultural diesel. The General Organization for Seed Multiplication has also provided the quantities needed to cultivate the areas allocated for grains.
