Update from November 19, 2 p.m.:
The
corona situation
in Europe remains explosive.
The World Health Organization (WHO) laments a growing number of corona deaths.
The number of deaths related to the coronavirus has increased by 18 percent in the last two weeks.
That said WHO director Hans Kluge on Thursday.
More than 29,000 deaths were recorded last week.
This means that every
17 seconds
a person in Europe dies with Covid-19.
The fact that 4500 lives are currently being
lost
to
Covid-19
per day
is avoidable, said Kluge.
Those who adhere to guidelines and act against misinformation make a contribution to avoid deaths.
Coronavirus in Europe: intensive care units in Switzerland at full capacity
"That is a small signal, but a signal nonetheless," said Kluge, considering the positive aspects.
Thanks to prudent behavior, the number of new infections per week fell from more than two million in the previous week to an estimated 1.8 million in the past week.
Nevertheless, there are increasing signs that health systems are reaching their limits due to the increasing number of cases.
In France, the intensive care units have been used to capacity at more than 95 percent for ten days, in Switzerland they have already reached full capacity.
According to the information, 28 percent of all corona infections registered worldwide and 26 percent of all corona deaths recorded worldwide can be traced back to Europe.
In the European region, to which WHO counts more than 50 countries, there have been around 15.8 million infections and nearly 355,000 related deaths so far, according to the organization.

Corona in Europe: Poland records the highest number of deaths, Steinmeier offers help - apparently undesirable
Update from November 15, 9:15 p.m.:
Poland currently has more than 25,000 new infections with the
corona virus
every day
.
The situation in the neighboring German country is coming to a head.
In a personal letter, Federal President
Frank-Walter Steinmeier
responded,
among other things, to the critical situation - and offered Germany's help.
But this is evidently only met with very limited approval.
"Shouldn't the German gentlemen send Polish doctors who work in the German health care system to Poland during the pandemic," said PiS MP Joanna Lichocka, according to Focus.de of the tabloid "Fakt".
Previously, President Andrzej Duda had already rejected the offered support for the time being - and thus apparently hits the tone of the Polish ruling party “Law and Justice” (PiS).
The use of
Polish doctors
living in Germany
should then also be paid for by Germany, Lichocka railed in the fact interview.
This reaction apparently
provokes outrage among
doctors working in Poland
.
"Every doctor who strengthens health in the fight against the pandemic is worth gold," said rheumatologist Bartosz Fialek to the newspaper.
Rather, efforts should be made to find more attractive conditions for doctors in Poland so that they do not migrate.

broke out in

.
Seven other people suffered severe burns, including the doctor in charge of the intensive care unit.

have triggered
the
fire
.
Media commented that the oxygen in the ventilators may have made the fire worse.
Health Minister
Nelu Tataru
immediately traveled to the scene of the accident.
The prosecution was expected to investigate the causes.
Romania
survived
the
first corona wave
comparatively lightly.
