Pompeo even called the BDS a "cancer", adding: "We will take action against the BDS and deny it government funding."

Pompeo's statement has legal and economic implications - both in the United States and in the international community.

Referring to his statement about two years ago that settlements are not against international law, Pompeo said: "We have shown that settlement activity can be done legally, and the entire State Department is behind this definition."

In addition, the U.S. secretary referred to the Abrahamic agreements, noting, "I am proud of these agreements, and there are sure to be more. It will continue because people who demand peace throughout the region understand that Israel is an excellent partner in all matters."

In response, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told him: "You strengthened your relations with Israel, when you were in the CIA the intelligence cooperation was stronger. When you were in the State Department, your representatives defended Israel in every international pogrom. I want to thank you for your personal involvement."

Wonderful to see the work being done to preserve the ancient @City_of_David and the new discoveries by archaeologists working in the area.

Thank you to Ze'ev Orenstein for the fascinating tour of the site of three thousand years of ancient history.

Meanwhile, Pompeo visited the City of David last night, which is formally considered "East Jerusalem."

He toured the Givati parking lot, watched an audio-visual show on the site and expressed great excitement from what he saw.

For Pompeo this is a second visit to the site, but this is the first time a US Secretary of State has visited the site.
